Registration open for the second edition of “The National Initiative for Smart Green Projects”… Apply before 31 May

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, announced the opening of registration for the second edition of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects in the governorates of Egypt, from 1 April to 31 May. It is a pioneering initiative in the field of sustainable and intelligent development and dealing with the environmental dimension and the effects of climate change.

The initiative aims to emphasize Egypt’s seriousness of dealing with the environmental dimension and climate change in the framework of achieving the sustainable development goals and digital transformation through the presentation of projects achieving these goals. It also aims to develop a governorate-level map of green and smart projects and linking them to financing entities and attracting national and international investments needed for them.

The initiative also explains Egypt's objectives in dealing with climate change and environmental challenges through realized projects on the ground. It also emphasizes the maximization of the use of ICTs within the framework of Egypt’s Plan for Digital Transformation, the empowerment of all governorates of Egypt and access to various groups socially and geographically.\

The initiative targets smart green projects according to six categories: large projects, medium enterprises, small local enterprises (under the framework of haya karima Initiative), startups, development projects related to women, climate change and sustainability, and non-profit community initiatives and participation.

Conditions & Mechanisms for participation

Apply to participate in the initiative for companies, individuals and institutions electronically through the registration link provided that the projects meet all the following conditions:

  • The project should be within the geographical scope of the governorate.
     
  • The project has already been implemented and has evidenced results and the minimum number of projects still under development is a full study and demonstration of the validity and feasibility of the idea.
     
  • The project must meet the minimum requirements of a technological component and a component linked to environmental sustainability (green). Any project that does not include these components will be excluded.
     
  • The project will be applied in its own category (projects that applied in irrelevant categories will be excluded).
     
  • Written acknowledgement of the intellectual property of the project and full liability for any claims or irregularities resulting from such otherwise (the form will be provided on the platform at the start of registration).
     
  • In the case of the project that is submitted and in which several entities and/or individuals participated, written consent must be given by all participants to participate in the initiative of the nominated project, and define the authorization to receive the winning bonus.
     
  • Members of governorate executive committees or members of arbitration committees may not nominate projects of their own or their families.
     
  • To qualify for the award, legal personality is required before the result is announced as the rewards will not be paid to individuals.
     
  • The Initiative's management retains the full right to investigate the sincerity of information about the project and the candidate.
