Little Bits: building blocks that blink, beep and teach

7 years 5 months ago

Imagine playing with LEGO and building an electronic device at the same time? This is what “Little Bits” do, easy-to-use electronic building blocks that empower everyone to create electronic inventions. YES, everyone, old, young, businesses or individuals, doesn’t need to be an engineer to use little bits. You could simply use their lego-like building block to create marvels from a fan to a robot, you name it! Engineers can forget about the hassle of electronic boards and wires. All you need is to understand the colour code of the blocks and their functions, which is input and which is output. Not only that, the blocks are also connected with magnets to guide you through the building process.

Little bits was founded four years ago, it is a transformation in the programming and electronics world as it empowers everyone to design and create their own innovation. On their youtube channel, you can find several demonstrations for projects and innovations created with the Little bits kit.

In this TED talk, Ayah Bdeir, the founder and CEO of Little Bits, Ted fellow and a Lebanese computer engineer, shows how little bits works. Her talk illustrates how she came up with the idea and why they want everyone to use their kit. Ayah also tells us more about different segments who tried using little bits and how magnificent were the results from children at schools to university students. Ayah was listed on the MIT Technology review 35 Innovators Under 35. You don’t want to miss this new innovation, you may also order the kit and try it yourself!
