Three Egyptian Startups Head “Disrupt Africa’s” List of African Startups in 2019

Three Egyptian startups headed a list of 12 African startups to watch in 2019 that was prepared by Disrupt Africa, a portal that reports on entrepreneurship and technology in Africa.

The first startup is Elves - Your Personal little helper, a platform that allows users to chat with an assistant to help them with anything for free. Elves uses the Human in Loop technology to develop machine learning and build artificial intelligence. The startup received 2 million dollars in seed funding by the end of 2017, which helped it to grow and expand in 2018.

Shezlong, a platform for online therapy that allows patients to talk to therapists in video calls came in second place. The real launch for Shezlong is considered to be in 2018 as it received USD 350,000 in investments, it was accepted in 500 Startups accelerator, and it was chosen to participate in Africa investment forum.

The last Egyptian startup in the list which came in third place is Halan, a Tuk-tuk and motorcycle transportation startup. You can book a Tuk-tuk or a motorcycle through the Halan app. Halan was founded in 2017, and in 2018 it had 3 million rides. Halan received multi-million dollar investments in 2018 and it is expected to be a fierce competitor in the field of transportation in Egypt in 2019.
