Wuilt Raises $2M to Fuel Free E-Commerce Expansion Across MENA

Egyptian SaaS startup Wuilt has secured $2 million in fresh funding, led by Flat6Labs and MTF VC as follow-on investors, with participation from Hub71, JIMCO (the venture capital arm of Abdul Latif Jameel), Purity Tech, and a network of angel investors.

Launched in 2019 by Ahmed Rostom and Mahmoud Metwaly, Wuilt enables individuals and businesses to easily create websites and online stores without requiring coding expertise.

This funding follows a strategic pivot in April 2025, where Wuilt made its core platform entirely free in Egypt—eliminating subscription fees and sacrificing significant recurring revenue to accelerate user growth. Since the shift, the platform has onboarded more than 20,000 merchants.

The startup now generates revenue through complementary services including Wuilt Shipments, Wuilt Pay, and Wuilt Wallet, moving away from traditional subscription-based models.

“We didn’t pivot just to grow—we pivoted to make growth possible for everyone else,” said CEO Ahmed Rostom, underscoring Wuilt’s mission to democratize e-commerce across the region.

With the new capital, Wuilt plans to expand its free platform to the UAE in Q4 2025, followed by rollouts in the GCC and Turkey in early 2026. The company is also developing AI-driven tools to help merchants operate and scale their businesses more effectively.

Wuilt ultimately aims to serve as a core infrastructure provider for small businesses and social sellers across emerging markets, beginning with the MENA region.
