6 Entrepreneurship Programs and Events You Don’t Want To Miss This Month

We, EgyptInnovate team, have gathered to our readers the most important entrepreneurship programs and events in Egypt during the month of August that we think they wouldn’t want to miss. Here they are:

   1) Women in ICT Competition

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology's program ICT for Women announced the opening of applications for a competition called "Women in ICT" for Egyptian females who got a bachelor degree. Egyptian women - whether they're founders of startups or individuals who made products or application with social or economic impact - may apply for the competition.

   2) Competitive Strategy Workshop

This workshop will allow you to renovate, refresh, and revisit your awareness of the most strategic variables in your business. Also, it allows upgrading your business through empowering you to initiate a solid business strategy. The workshop will be attended by executive leaders such as Nefertari, Titans, and AEDCO. The ticket costs 700EGP for Egypreneur members, and 900EGP for non-members.

   3) Social Entrepreneurship Hackathon

In an effort to encourage social entrepreneurship in Egypt, the British Embassy has partnered with Flat6Labs to launch the Hackathon Competition for Egyptian entrepreneurs. Offering opportunities for mentorship, funding and business training, the competing startups should tackle one of these environmental issues: recycling, energy, and sustainable farming, solving existing problems.

   4) AlMakinah Gear Up Crash Course for Women

AlMakinah Gear Up Crash Course is an intensive bootcamp-style learning experience crashing stereotypes on women. It’s a 100 hour full-time course introduction to frontend web development crash. During this program, female participants will learn the basics of web development, build their own static website, network with established women in tech, and experience a variety of leadership workshops. Ticket costs 4,000 EGP.

   5) Nawah Social Entrepreneurship Challenge 2017

The competition targets startups that have solutions to social problems and impact Egyptian society. This year’s competition include three categories, which are youth-entrepreneurs over 18 years and under 35 years old-, schools-high school students under 19 years old-, and businesses that operate in the arts and culture field, such as developing skills of artists, spreading artistic practices or development through art and culture by using art as a means for community development or critical thinking.

   6) MO4’s Incubation Program in the First VR Lab

With the Facebook Virtual Reality Grant, MO4 Network will become home to the first Virtual Reality lab. It announced the opening of applications for those looking to incubate their Oculus app at the lab. They are required to submit a project brief, which includes an expected timeline for completion, as well as a summary of their technical and creative abilities. After their acceptance, they will be scheduled into the VR lab rota with sessions allocated to them depending on the needs and complexity of the project.
